The fragrance of blooming flowers, the misty air with a little tint of sunlight, the hide-and-seek of mild sunrays and cool breeze, the tapping tunes of countryside music, the clear skies and the rejoicing faces…
Location too hard to ignore
One such beautiful spring morning fashion shoot took me to Dubai’s one of the most bustling locations – La Mer. Little did I know that I’d be swaying my flowy dress and humming tunes of happiness in my head. It became more of appreciating the location and enjoying the entire experience than mere posing and creating a look. Since I am writing this blog post after a long interval (I shouldn’t have excuses, but it’s better to accept that I’m trying to balance my full-time job and my overflowing love for Soul Style
Soufflé), I wanted to create a look that’s super easy to style and that I’d prefer it as my ‘go-to’ look.
Honestly, I was tired of the same ripped denim, bodycon dresses, crop tops, and those fancy pants…I was looking for something that reflected a feminine delicacy but also had a sultry quotient. Giving a twist to contemporary and classic my look is inspired from experimenting with prints and colour blocking with a striking shade of footwear.
When ordinary isn’t an option
A button-front maxi dress with a slit was a dicey choice for me at the start, I wasn’t confident about the abstract print, the collar, and the front slit. On trying this dress I was sure this would make a perfect outfit for ‘Desk to Dinner’ kind of days. The fit was absolutely stunning, the broad belt on the waist gave the impression of a tiny waist. I was flattered by the front slit and the flowy maiden avatar this dress personified. All thanks to Bombay Paisley for this modern take on maxi dresses that revolves around the essence of sophistication is fascinating.
Since the dress was already making a visible statement I chose a pair of yellow cross block heels. Why yellow with a navy blue ? It’s mandatory to cut the overall blue with a block colour so that every element has an individuality. If I wouldn’t have these yellow heels I’d wear turquoise blue heels or magenta.
I’ve used a fuchsia pink lip colour and kept the eyes quite simple. For day time pair it up with sunnies and a sling bag. I wore geometric shape earrings as it complements the abstract aesthetics on my dress.
Simple, suave, and sober… it’s the look one can be effortlessly carried without worrying about the season. Be the classy diva but don’t forget to add a tinge of attitude when you style. For the ones afraid of experimenting, why not style it yourself by choosing your favourite print and give it your designer touch?
